Personality: Lucky isn't the tallest horse, but he makes up for his size with muscle, power, and personality. Lucky is all stallion, full of pomp and bravado and unexplained bouts of aggression, and explained ones as well. He's not necessarily an unkind horse, he just doesn't have a ton of care for his human handlers. He generally won't hurt them on purpose, but if they're between he and what he wants, accidents can happen. It doesn't take much to get this stallion riled up - walk him past another male, and he arches his neck, pins his ears, and starts lashing his tail. He'll call a challenge nine times out of ten, and without a chain, he would easily try and charge. He's a very dominant sort, which is part of what makes him such a great racer. If you walk him past a mare in heat, much of the reaction is the same - except this time, he's less interested in a fight and more interested in the mare herself. At least this reaction rarely puts the humans in danger, so it's preferred. Once you're on his back, Lucky is almost a dream to ride. Most of the issues he has on the ground are forgotten when he's put to running. Come race day, he generally knows something's up, and will pace circles around his stall - normally he's taken out an walked often in the morning to keep him from straining anything. He tends to become more aggressive the more worked up he gets, so extra precaution is always taken on race day. In the post parade, he's surprisingly docile, though he's more likely to be trotting than walking out of eagerness. Lucky has a fiery will, and it has done well by him - he gets stronger the more he learns, and we can only hope it will continue.

Racing Style: Lucky isn't the fastest horse out of the gate, but he's not sluggish either, coming out mid-pack. From there he drops back, letting almost every horse by him, normally settling second to last. He's good as a closer because it takes him a bit of time to really get going - he uses the first part of the race to get his faculties together, slowly finding his stride. When he does find it, though, he's an insane force on the track. He starts moving just at the start of the last turn, creeping up generally on the outside, until he's just behind the leaders entering the stretch. Whether they're tiring or not doesn't seem to matter - Lucky's aggression and dominance drive him forward, pushing until he can push no more. When he wins, it's generally because he truly found his stride and gets ahead by a few lengths crossing the wire. Every once in awhile, though, he pulls out just enough to get a nose in front.
