Personality: Whisper is, by nature, a nervous horse. Anything new is a potential danger, and his flight instinct has always far outweighed his fight one. However, he's been introduced to more and more "scary" things, and as he becomes more familiar, his scared episodes happen less and less and he is altogether more comfortable in his environment. This comfort shows even in his record. Skittish and uncomfortable at two, Whisper has really begun to come into his own, showing that his poor juvenile record had absolutely nothing to do with skill. Underneath the fear was a noble and gentle horse just waiting to be uncovered, and he's all the better for it. Whisper is spirited but no longer truly scared, light on his toes and more likely to walk sideways on a lead than straight. He will never be an incredibly curious horse, but he is interested in the world around him. The less scared he is of it, the more bold he is - the wrapper in someone's pocket isn't a snake trying to bite him, but a barrier between his teeth and a potential snack. Whisper is still a little nervous on race day, prancing alongside the track pony, but he doesn't work up a big sweat anymore from it. Altogether, he really is a good boy, and has become a big sweetheart of the barn.

Racing Style: Though he's doing better in many aspects, Whisper continues to be uncomfortable with the gate, and often has to be pushed in at the end. He never truly fights, but he does anxiously drag his feet when it comes down to it. Once in the gate, he wants nothing more than to get out. It's easy for his jockey to keep him on his toes, and when the doors finally spring, Whisper is away like a shot. He settles rather than pushes for an early lead - he likes to run in front, but he doesn't aggressively fight for it and will drop back a little if he must. For whatever reason, Whisper really hates being intermixed with other horses - perhaps he's scared of the noises from the jockeys, or of the other horses themselves. Either way, it doesn't take much to keep him ahead of them, and when he is asked to pull away, he does so readily. He's got a determination and power to him when he comes down the stretch, so unlike the normal attitude he shows - while we don't know why that is, it often sees him sailing across the wire in front.
